        What we do
Since 1540, Jesuits have worked in many countries of the world at the service of the Church and missioned by Pope. The Society of Jesus has established Universities, Scientific Observatories, Colleges and Secondary schools, besides having members working in the various types of Church institutions.

The Eastern Africa Province was started as an independent Region1976, comprising of Jesuit working in Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan, Uganda and Tanzania. In 1986, it was made a full-fledged Province. Today the Eastern African Province is home to numerous Jesuit ministries such as Parish, Social and Justice, Retreat, Education, Refugee Service and other ministries. The only norm for the type of apostolate of a Jesuit is service to God and His people, in accord with the will of his Superiors and the corporate thrust of the society which is "the promotion of Justice in the Service of faith."
